Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.
– Dale Evans Rogers
We regularly say that Christmas is something you don’t celebrate alone but together. Your loved ones around you, friends, family, neighbours, your community. Christmas is a time of love, fellowship and giving. With that in mind, we came up with a nice challenge: Treats of Joy.
Treats
The English word treats means goody or delicacy. Something small and delicious you can enjoy. And what better to enjoy than a good cookie?
Everyone has a favorit. Chocolate chip, shortbread, coffee cookie. There are plenty to name. We came up with a nice idea and take it a step further.
The Challenge
Together with your family, friends or partner, bake a batch of delicious cookies. If you are limited in your time you can also buy them. But baking together is fun activity for young and old. Wrap up and nicely and gift some to others. Think of your neighbour, teacher, grandparents, family, friends etc. Do all this with one message: Merry Christmas!
Community
The goal is simple: Christmas is something you do togehter. Baking cookies is a true Christmas activity, giving it away is the pay-It-Forward concept. You do something for yourself and for someone else.
Outreach
Afterall, December is the month where you do a little extra. Besides baking cookies, there are plenty of other ways to do something for someone. Help your grandparents to decorate the tree, do groceries for an eldery neighbour. Donate something to the foodbank. Send nice Christmas cards, fun mail. There are so many ways to give back.
